GENERAL'S OFFICE
As mayor it is my
intention to institute an Office of the Inspector General (OIG). The
OIG is like an Ombudsman’s Office but with teeth.
The Office of the Inspector General conducts independent
investigations, audits, inspections, and special reviews of city staff
and council and city funded programs and other local government funded
programs such as Police, Children's Aid Society and school boards to
detect and
deter waste, fraud,
abuse, and misconduct, and to promote integrity, economy, efficiency,
and effectiveness in all these operations.
This office will have subpoena power to acquire evidence and the
responsibility to publicize the results of the investigation.
APPEAL OF CITY DECISIONS
Every decision effecting a right to service will be
appealable. The appeal process is to deal with unfair or unreasonable
decisions by city staff and council.
